Customer Rating: Summary: Can I get a refund for the problems related to this device? Comment: I admit I was taken by the sleek design, the placement of the buttons and the keys. I like the metallic red finish, and I enjoy the picture quality. I like some of the features, but I have major problems with how the phone operates.
Many of my calls seem to drop. I thought this was relative to where I live, however, I didn't have any problems with other phones I've used in this residence.
The reception is awful. many times I'll hear static, the caller will cut out, or I'll get crickets.
While I like the size of the phone, it's a little too small for my tastes. I get hand cramps from using this a lot. I bought a case which adds some substance to the device and has been helpful, but it's not good enough.
One of my biggest complaints is the placement of the antenna. I have to be very aware of where I place my hand in relation to the phone or I get a lot of static, a dropped call, or the silent treatment. I have found it frustrating that I can't put my feet up and chat. The antenna is so bad that I have found that I need to find a specific place to stand in my home, hold the phone in a certain way to make sure I get reception.
I don't have any problem with Samsung: I love their HD TVs and other products they make. I sense that this phone is a turkey. I've had a RAZR, iphone and a few other Motorola products and didn't have any of the same problems I've had with this device.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nearly Free but Worth Even Less Comment: Buy a better one from the start! You'll need a new one in two months anyway. That is, if you're an active person who carries her/his phone in your pocket. The thing is so moisture sensitive that the front screen will go fritz if you walk a mile on a warm day, and it has a little Judas of a humidity detector inside it which will negate your warranty. But even if you carry it in a purse, you'll find that the photo button on the outer edge, right beside the red "back" button, is stupidly easy to touch by accident.
The only "good" thing about this phone is as follows: I didn't want a cell phone. I like being out of touch. My wife and son both scoffed at me for being such a Luddite, but I held fast for several years. Then they stalked into my studio and shot me with a tranquilizer dart and thrust the cursed thing into my cold, stiff hand... well, not quite, but they "gave" me this Samsung on no uncertain terms. Now I can tell them that it's broken, and have at least a week or so of autonomy before they buy me another.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't buy this phone Comment: I had this phone for three days when the face of the mini display cracked under normal use causing the whole phone to stop working.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great phone. Cool design. Comment: This is the second phone i've had. It was great; i liked everything about it. I don't see why people are rating it so poorly. The camera button is a little sensitive, but if you accidentaly press it, then just exit out of the camera. Not a big deal. I owned it for about 5 months, and one of my friends stepped on it accidentaly. The outer screen cracked, so i'll just get a new one. It worked just fine.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great til it breaks, and it will Comment: The design was great. I liked the functionality and interface with the exception of the camera turning on randomly in my pocket. About three months with it though, the face cracked (apparently a common problem with this phone). It did not affect the function of the phone and I used it for another three months. Without dropping it, sticking it in water or any other normal reason, the phone died on me. Luckily for the manufacturer, they don't have to replace it because the crack in the face excuses them. Smart on their part to design a flimsy face so that when their phone does die they can blame it on that, and you are SOL.
