Customer Rating: Summary: If I could rate it lower than one, I would! Comment: My experience with this phone has been terrible for the past year. The battery life is AWFUL. The features are great but are extremely temperamental. This is my second phone to have a problem with texting where every text message suddenly becomes a mms message and costs me a fortune. They couldn't fix the first phone and replaced it - after a few months, the same thing happened to my second phone. The cover for the charger/data cable connection breaks and falls off. The voice calling never consistantly gives me a choice between home or cell phone numbers - it's just an awful phone. AWFUL - don't buy it! Don't let them GIVE it to you!
Customer Rating: Summary: Tammytl1 Comment: DON'T GET THIS!!! I got mine free and it wasn't worth it. It moves slows freezes and I was on my 3rd red razr when I finally replaced it.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's a decent phone, but the software is a big downfall Comment: I've had my v3m from Sprint for over a year now, and after having it for so long have a pretty good feel for it. Firstly, the menus are slower than other phones--but they aren't unbearably slow in most cases. However I could definately see how going from a really snappy phone to this one would feel like being stuck in the mud.
The battery life for mine has been good until recently when it's suddenly fallen off, I can't complain that I got a year out of the battery. However a friend has the product red model and her battery died after just a few months, and her second one is on its way out too. I don't know if there's any hardware differences in the model or if I've just been lucky.
My largest personal frustration was in not being able to charge the phone from a USB port without installing Motorola Phone Tools ($35). I ended up purchasing MPT to add/edit ringtones, sync my contacts and calendar, and keep backups of my phone--but until I put down the money I had to keep a charger with me whenever I went on the road; this defeats the purpose of having a standard port for charging and data-transfer.
I bought this phone for its slim size, after having a Samsung Katana (which I returned after 2 days). I love the fact that the razrs easily hide in a pocket and are comfy to have in tow all day without having to resort to a belt-clip. The only downfall to it's form is that the antenna is down by the microphone, right where you hold the phone a good chunk of the time--so you have to be conscience of this, especially in poor areas of reception. Also a headset is a must, as it's much cheaper than the chiropractic treatments you'll need if you get in the habit of holding a phone that is only 1/4" thick between your head and shoulder.
As a whole I've been content with this phone, I use it for phone calls 99% of the time, and Google Maps on occasion. The music function didn't really matter to me, and the built-in music player is pretty poor. For my needs this phone works will, and I have no regrets getting it w/ my contract. However had I paid MSRP I would be quite uncontent, as it just isn't as polished as it should be.
Customer Rating: Summary: Can't hold a charge and freezes Comment: This is my second red razr. I had to get a replacement after 4 days because the battery lasted about 2 hours if that. So, after 3 weeks of Sprint screwing around, I got my new phone.
The battery life is better, but not by much. I've now had this phone for 6 months and the battery lasts about 5-6 hours when I don't use it at all. It has about 40 minutes talk time and then dies. I live in an area that is not rural, is the biggest city where I live, and most of the time my phone doesn't roam, but maybe 2-3 times a week, it roams in my bedroom or in my living room. No specific area, just picks and chooses when it feels like roaming.
My husband and I both bought this phone at the same time. He has the same problems. We have gone through 2 chargers EACH and are now sharing one. And it's starting to have problems. Half the time it flashes charger connected, charger disconnected.
It lags on commands. Horribly! Something as simple as going through my contacts. There is about a 30 second delay in going from o to p. It just freezes there. And on certain people, I don't know why, it freezes when I hang up and I either have to wait 5 -7 minutes to use the phone again or turn it off and on.
My husband's phone is now shutting off for no reason, but if he whacks it on the palm of his hand, it'll turn back on. Had I known when I renewed my contract with Sprint that these phones sucked this badly, I wouldn't have even thought to buy one.
I did give it 2 stars because whether the inside sucks or not, it is pretty. :o) And the size is perfect for me. I am on the go all day with 3 kids and I have enough shoved in my purse or diaper bag that my phone slides to the bottom. I can slip it in my front pocket with no problem. It doesn't bother me at all.
So, when it's time to get new phones, I will be staying away from this one, I'll just be looking for a slim phone that works.
Customer Rating: Summary: Dont buy this phone! Comment: Ive had the phone for about 7 months and after about 5 months the LCD screen on the front quit working so I have to flip open the phone to see who is texting or calling, which can be a pain. I called Motorola and they said it would take 7-14 business days to fix and to make sure I kept track of all my phone numbers because once i got it back it would be completely empty! All the ringers and pics and numbers will be erased! Who can go 2 weeks without a phone... as they will not give you a loaner phone, nor will Sprint. The phone will freeze up at any given moment, the volume button on the side doesnt always work properly. Overall, not a good phone, there are lots of others that got good reviews and are comparable in price. This phone costs WAY too much for what its actually worth!

Sprint's Red RAZR V3m by Motorola was designed exclusively to support (Product) Red, an initiative founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to raise awareness and money for the Global Fund, a program that helps fight AIDS in Africa. (Product) Red is an ultra hip way for you to help while taking advantage of Sprint PCS Wireless' exclusive Power Vision mobile Web content service. Other features include a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot, a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth support, GPS capability, and more.
Slim and powerful, the RAZR V3m supports Sprint PCS' Power Vision mobile broadband services. See it in action (requires Flash). | Design The RAZR V3m's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, fully-anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 65,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display caller ID pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The 1.3-megapixel camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone. The RAZR V3m also features 30 MB of embedded memory for storing pictures, videos, and downloaded PCS Vision content. You can also expand your storage space with the phone's microSD/TransFlash memory card slot. Note that the phone does not have a 2.5mm headset jack, but a compatible stereo headset is included in the box. Calling Features The RAZR V3m's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's caller ID system allows you to assign pictures and specific ringtones to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone and more ringtones can be downloaded from Sprint's PCS Power Vision service. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates as easy as saying their names. Speaker-independent technology allows any speaker to dial numbers with the voice dialing system. And because the RAZR V3m is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.
Enjoy streaming video from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more (black version shown). | Messaging, Internet, and Tools The RAZR V3m is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound, and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun (Sprint PCS text messaging charges apply). There's also a built-in Web browser for downloads and mobile Web browsing. You can trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings, and find directions to the theater. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, the RAZR V3m is fully compatible with Sprint's Power Vision service. With Power Vision, you can download and stream high-quality video, straight onto your phone. Enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from brands you know, like CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more. Power Vision also serves as a portal for enhanced games. Graphically-enhanced games for one or multiple players provide hours of entertainment. Sprint's music service is another EV-DO-powered service that makes the V3m all the more desirable. With the Sprint Music Store, your phone is a music player, letting you buy, download, and then jam out wherever you are with new songs or old favorites. Save your songs to a memory card with a capacity that's right for you. You can even pause to take a call without missing a beat. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RAZR V3m including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, and an alarm clock. The phone supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, which can be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar, and other data with your PC. The RAZR V3m also supports Telenav GPS Navigator, which allows you to enjoy audible and visual turn by turn directions to any address (subscription required; 15 day trial included). Imaging and Entertainment The RAZR V3m's 1.3-megapixel camera bridges the gap between phones and quality digital cameras with its included advanced night mode and self-timer functions. The built-in camera is also designed to capture video. Embedded animated screensavers and full screen wallpapers are built-in so you can set up the RAZR V3m to suit your tastes. The RAZR V3m supports 3D games, as well as other 2D-based games. Vital Statistics The Motorola RAZR V3m weighs 3.49 ounces and measures 3.90 x 2.10 x .57 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.33 hours of digital talk time, and up to 325 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.
